Treasured Memories Design Team Bio

Tell us about yourself. What would like everyone to know about you?

I am married to a very cute bald man named Mike. I have 2 great kids, Jake, who is 10 and Regan, who just turned 7. I started to scrapbook for fun, now I am just plain addicted!

What is your scrapbooking style?

I have been told that I am linear. But I am also big into lots of pictures!

How long have you been scrapbooking?

My best friend and co-hort, Alice got me started about 6 years ago and I have been out of control ever since!

Who do you scrapbook?

Mostly my kids and family activities.

Name your top 3 tools.

Cricut, Crop-a-Dile and my new pair of scissors.

How are you inspired to get started on a layout?

I start with my pictures. I decide what my main photo will be to focus on, pick my paper out and just go from there.

Do you have any great tips to share?

Don't freak out if you make a mistake. Some of my favorite layouts were ones that I made a mistake on originally.

What is your favorite 3 embellishments?

Chipboard, stickles and of course bling!

What is your favorite paper line?

I don't have one. I am so obsessed, I don't care who makes them if they are cute!!

What is your favorite way to journal?

I really have to force myself to journal. I prefer to hand write vs. computer when it comes to my children's albums. I usually use a pre-made journaling box or make my own.

Design Team Assignment #6

I actually had this done some time ago---there's a first for everything! On this assignment we were allowed to use whatever products we wanted to again with some different challenges. I have to say, for me--I actually did leave my little box for a second! I actually used the sewing machine (which was one of our challenges)! I admit that this is not the best job, but I was able to hide some really ugly spots! Using ghost letters was another challenge and I used the Heidi Swapp Ghost Letters and alcohol inked them--another first for me! A third challenge was to create a layout using circles. For this I used Technique Tuesday chipboard, which is the best to paint by the way. I painted some and used Crystal Accents to give it a wet look, used Tim Holtz crackle paint on others and covered the large circles with paper from Creative Imaginations. The 4th and last challenged I did was to use about 3 to 4 different textures. In addition to the different textures of the chipboard, I also added beading along the side. The brads were compliments of my fellow DT member, Lisa Johnson, who happened to be scrapin at the store when I was working on this.

DT July Assignment

This time we were not given any particular products to use--we got to use whatever we wanted! I had originally wanted to silhouette a picture, but it didn't happen on this one, but it will show up before we are through with our term!! Still on my Disney high (and since I have hundreds of pictures not even printed yet) I thought I'd use the "photo shoot" from Regan's Bippidi Boppidi
Boutique visit. I used Basic Gray "Euphoria" line--love the colors! One of the challenges was to use stamping to create a background. I got the Maya Road Royalty Crowns and used them as a stamp and then an embellishment. Another of the challenges was to use 5 different products from 5 different manufacturers. For the scallop trim I used the Bazill Borders in white, the title is the Basic Gray "Wilma" letters (my favorite), the pink and white flower brads are from the Doodlebug Boutique Brads in Cupcake, the "smile" chipboard is from Inqueboard Chipboard Accents w/ Crystal Effects added. And the one challenge that I included but may be pushing it is that we had to use something we hadn't in 3 or more years. Well, considering that I had just "cleaned" house and sold all of my old items at Janet's garage sale, I really didn't have anything. I was reading my Scrapbooks Etc magazine and they used a "shrinkable" material as an embellishment. I decided to try it, so I dug out the kids Shrinkydinks and made a slide for the ribbon to go through. It came out a little smaller than I hoped, but I thought it was different and I got to title it however I wanted!

Well, I finished my assignment but sadly there will be no silhouetting---this time! I totally screwed up and reversed the pages on my layout! I guess I got side tracked running my mouth again last night at the crop and did not pay attention to what I was doing. Yes, Monica, I am still stressin over it! Anyway, it totally changed how the photos are arranged and so, I can't silhouette the picture I was going to. But it is finished and done a week early! I can't wait to see what everyone has done. Here is a pic of my kids on their first day back to school! I am excited for them for all the new things they will learn and do and wish them the best! Good luck my babies!

I am finally getting around to posting a layout I did from our Disney trip. This is not my favorite, but my husband likes the wizard hat I made, so I used this one. I am anxious to start working on my Design Team Assignment! I can't wait to finish it--I may bring back stickers!!!! And to my dear DT friends, I saw your faces when I said I will be silhouetting a pic--I am bringing that back too!

We are back!!

OMG! We had such a good time! I took around 400 some pictures, not to mention the photopass peeps that took our pics at the parks, which is another 100! Once I figure out how to get them on my computer, I will post a few on my blog. I will be scrapbooking the rest of the summer!!

Right now, I am very depressed and will probably be worse come Wednesday when I have to go back to work. Now we are getting ready for Regan's dance revue, then I am done with school and activities till August!! Yeppie!!!

Design Team April Assignment

I forgot to post this before I left to go on vacation, but now I am back from La-La Land!

This particular challenge was very difficult to me and I think pushed me more so than any of the other challenges so far. We were given a 12 x 12 of Maya Road sheer sheet--I got the "Hearts" one. We were also given 7 Gypsies ATC cards, 2 sheets of the Core Cordinations and a Glitz doodle roller stamp that was all to be used on our layout. I was going to use pictures of me and my husband but soon scrapped that idea when I realized that I really did not have any of us that I liked, so I decided to go a different route by using pictures of my grandmother, mother, my daughter and myself.

One of the challenges was to tear and roll the edges, which I did but the color of the Core Cordinations paper did not come out like I thought it would. I used ledger paper from the pack of Making Memories to hand journal and used lace around the picture of my grandmother and mom, since that photo was the main focus for me. I did use the Bazzil scallop paper as a border. I tried to use the Glitz roller in my title and swear that I had practiced it several times before I did it on my layout and still messed it up by not pressing hard enough! I had no time to redo the layout and was not sure what I could do to fix it, so I left it alone. I used the 7 Gypsies ATC cards and the hearts from the sheer sheet as my embellishments and added some Heidi Swapp heart mirrors. The 'LOVE' in my title is from Maya Road and was one of the words that comes on a key chain pack that Janet sells at the store. I painted it black and used the new All-Purpose Ink from Fantastix (black pearl) for the sheen. I used the same technique for the wooden heart flourishes made by Kaiserscrapbook. Instead of backing the other photos, I had decided to use some old Heidi Swapp photo corners that I had forever!! So I did use an old product but not in a new way I guess !!! (which was another optional challenge).

Materials Used:

Maya Road "Hearts" Sheer Sheet
Maya Road plain chipboard words
Making Memories Ledger pack
7 Gypsies ATC Cards
Glitz doodle roller stamp
Dew Drop Black ink
All Purpose Ink by Fantastix in Black Pearl
Scrapbook Paint in Black
Core Cordinations in light pink
Bazzil Scallop paper in Black
Doodlebug Bling in clear (on the "love")
Kaiser Scrapbook Wood Flourishes
Heidi Swapp photo corners in black
Heidi Swapp "hearts" mirrors
Lace (not sure who makes it--got it from Janet's store)

March Assignment

This assignment was definitely a challenge!! We were given ghost shapes and a 12x 12 sheet of transparency from Fancy Pants. Also included was a doodling template that we had to incorporate in our layout. I cut the circles out of the transparency and used them to frame my journaling. I did add some Stickles (could not help myself--I love them and will Stickle anything that will stay still!!!) to help it stand out. I used my Cricut (George and Basic Shape cartridge) to cut out the flowers and the Doodle Charms Cartridge for the dragonflies. On the dragonflies, I used the doodling template as a mask on the wings, added Crystal Effects to the antennas and of course Stickles. I did go out of my box (nothing original but I am a lazy scrapbooker and hate to sew) and hand stitched the streams from two of the dragonflies. I used the hearts, the "LOVE" and the bracket of my ghost shapes and painted them with a paint dabber (a lot easier than using the "Stays On" pad).

Materials used:
Bazzill cardstock
Core-dinations (the torn piece) (love them by the way!)
Fancy Pants Ghost Shapes
Fancy Pants Transparency
Thickers blue vinyl letters (love them too!)
Dot Burst doodling template
Crystal Effects
Stickles--yellow, lime green and turquoise
Adirondack Acrylic Paint dabber in red pepper

Design Team Challenge # 2

For this challenge we were given Buzz and Bloom chipboards and a sheet of lace cardstock from KI Memories. I found some pics taken at Avery Island at the Budda Temple and went from there. All of the printed paper is from Kaiser and the cardstock is Bazzill. For the journaling box, I used one of the Buzz and Bloom frames, painted it and used a piece of the laser cut paper as a masking and sprayed the frame with Glimmer Mist. For the large flower, I used Melt Art Embossing Enamel. I also heat embossed the smaller flowers and picture corners that were all from the Buzz and Bloom packet. The bling is the BonBon color from Doddlebug Designs. I did make a small step outside of my box as Melissa would say cause I have never heat embossed or worked with colors like that. I cannot wait to see everyone and their layouts! I am such a goober, I wish we could meet more than once a month!!!

Monday, March 24, 2008

I thought I'd check out the blogs today. I am trying to figure out how to do all of the other stuff that can be done, but I need a book like "Blogging for Morons". I will be posting my next assignment on the site before I go to my meeting on Wednesday. I did do some other layouts of my kids class pics but not sure what the rules are with posting pics of other people's kids, so I will have to upload ones that are of just my peeps! I did spend quite a bit of time at TM this past Friday, but I think I did more talking than scrapbooking!!!! My next layout will be dedicated to Wendy!!! :)

I was supposed to this when I put my layout on my blog, but it took me forever to figure out how to get my layout on here!! I think I may be getting the hang of this.

Bling: Mark Richards' pearls
